Even if she does, you'll be the reason in her family's eyes. Its so good to be a part of this blog. Would I like to have him by my side. She has to come to the realization that the church may not be infallible, it can't be forced on her or proven to her. It isn't money that he is just throwing around on useless things, its for dinner movies normal date stuff that people do over a course of a month and we cram into one weekend. Like you I grew up with and taught the standard LDS beliefs about temple marriage, celestial kingdom, etc. Otherwise you're just denying them eternal salvation in their eyes. You were a banker too. Also, love how you describe how God has our backs and we can actually act on the notion of things hoped for that are not seen instead of the quaint pseudo idea that all things are known in advance, step by step, and lead to mortal and eternal bliss.
Interestingly, my parents felt the same way about him. The point is that he should ASK her if this is true for her. The church will be in your bedroom, finances, and all your decisions. I would NOT want my daughter or son to marry a doctor. But my choice seems to be build a life so I am not lonely all the time or stay at home waiting for him to have time for me. I think it might be worth trying. She cried when you proclaimed your love of goodness because, in part, it was a sign that you weren't broken and desperate for Mormonism. I can understand his desire to spend time together to reconnect, but right now it really isn't there. I'd like to reiterate, though, that sheer physical exhaustion isn't as much of a problem for me as it might be for a med student or a doctor, so he might be deserving of the benefit of doubt if he doesn't keep in touch regularly.
